The design for the Fallen Journalists Memorial has now been publicly unveiled. John Ronan Architects is leading the design team for this new memorial at the National Mall that will be dedicated to press freedom and the journalists who have lost their lives in service to that cause.

The Fallen Journalists Memorial Foundation has selected four architecture and design teams as finalists for a proposed memorial on The National Mall in Washington, D.C. The Fallen Journalists Memorial will be a prominent national symbol that serves to commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives. It will educate and inspire generations around the world about the essential role a free press plays in democratic nations. MBLA is proud to be a member of John Ronan Architects’ team. Design concepts will be submitted to the foundation in early 2024.

MBLA is proud to be teamed with Salt Lake City architects Sparano + Mooney Architecture and other team members, to develop separate Master Plans for Abravanel Concert Hall and the adjacent Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA), in downtown Salt Lake. Both institutions occupy Salt Lake County land, which along with the timing of their studies, affords the team the opportunity to holistically consider their shared landscapes, with ambitions to create a vibrant new civic landscape in the heart of Salt Lake City’s downtown.

Construction of the new Smith Center for Education & Research. is wrapping up at Wolfe's Neck Center. Planting will be completed in the fall.

Building 12 was awarded a 2023 Maine Preservation Honor Award by the Maine Preservation Organization. MBLA collaborated with Bruner/ Cott Architects and Portland Foreside Development Company, to site the building within the 10-acre development. Building 12 was deconstructed and meticulously rebuilt with the original materials. Building 12 now contains office and residential space on the upper floors and TWELVE, a restaurant on the first floor.

The Portland Museum of Art unveiled the design proposals from each of the shortlisted firms for the campus expansion project. MBLA is teamed with Adjaye Associates. The design concept creates a new reimagined entry on High Street inviting visitors into the existing Shaw Sculpture Garden.

House on a Bay was awarded a 2022 Residential Design Award, Citation: Ecology & Energy by the Boston Society of Architects and AIA New York. MBLA collaborated with Elliott Architects, working closely to site the house within the stunning natural context considering views, native plantings and a dramatic arrival sequence.
